How Hipawz handles analytics, ads, and reader data

Hipawz is primarily a content site. Most readers should be able to browse species guides without creating an account, but the site may still use basic analytics, advertising, and infrastructure logs to keep the project running and improve the library.

1. Information Hipawz may collect

The site may receive technical information that is common for web publishing, such as IP address, browser type, device information, page URLs, referral URLs, approximate geography, and timestamps.

If you email Hipawz for a correction, rights issue, or business inquiry, the site may keep your name, email address, and the contents of that message long enough to respond and maintain a record of the issue.

Hipawz does not currently require reader accounts for core browsing. If that changes later, this policy should be updated.

2. Analytics and performance measurement

Google Analytics may be enabled to understand which guides are useful and which pages need clarification.

Analytics data may be used to understand which species guides get searched most often, where readers drop off, and which pages likely need stronger sourcing or clearer husbandry explanations.

Analytics should be used in aggregate for site improvement, not for selling a reader list.

3. Advertising, cookies, and consent

When advertising goes live, Hipawz may use Google AdSense or similar partners. Readers are never asked to click ads to fund conservation donations.

If ads are enabled, advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers, or similar technologies to measure ad performance, limit repetition, and serve ads based on prior visits or broader interest signals where law allows.

Where required, Hipawz should display a consent message or compatible consent-management flow before using non-essential cookies or personalized advertising features.

4. How information may be used

  • Operate, secure, and debug the website.
  • Understand which guides are useful or confusing.
  • Respond to contact, correction, rights, or privacy messages.
  • Measure advertising and conservation-promise reporting once monetization is live.

5. Reader choices and requests

You can usually limit cookies through browser controls, clear local storage, or use consent choices presented on the site when those features are active.

If you want to ask about data associated with an email inquiry, or you want a privacy-related follow-up, contact service@hipawz.com.

If Hipawz later adds newsletters, forms, user submissions, or commerce, this page should be updated to describe those flows more specifically.
